Faster Casting, FCR and cast delay

From UO:PvE Wiki

FC shortens spell wind-up; FCR shortens the recovery after a completed cast. The configured era adds a quarter-second timing adjustment.

What the abbreviations mean#

TermMeaning
FCFaster Casting: changes cast wind-up
FCRFaster Cast Recovery: changes post-cast recovery
LMCLower Mana Cost
LRCLower Reagent Cost
HLDHit Lower Defence: a weapon proc, unrelated to cast delay
LCDNo separate Lower Cast Delay attribute was found; use FC for wind-up or FCR for recovery

FC limits and actual delay#

First obtain equipment FC after the progression cap. Cap it again at 2 for Magery and Necromancy. Chivalry permits 4, but uses 2 if effective Magery is 70.0 or higher. Subtract 2 while Protection is active, subtract any applicable FC debuff, then subtract 1 for the current Stygian Abyss-or-later timing rule.

For an ordinary spell with a 0.25-second casting tick and fast scalar 1: actual delay = max(spell minimum, base delay −0.25×adjusted FC). Spell overrides can change the base, minimum or scalar.

Recovery#

Normal Magery and Necromancy recovery is max(0,6−effective FCR)÷4 seconds. Chivalry uses max(0,7−effective FCR)÷4. A recovery debuff reduces the effective FCR before this calculation. The progression cap limits equipment FCR to 2 / 3 / 4 / 6, so ordinary recovery at those maxima is 1.00 / 0.75 / 0.50 / 0 seconds; Chivalry is 0.25 seconds longer.

Casting time, post-cast recovery and delayed spell impact are three different timers. A damage delay is not reduced merely by increasing FC or FCR.
