Message bottles and SOS shipwrecks

Use an SOS location and Fishing to recover shipwreck salvage and a treasure chest.

Recover a wreck#
Carry the SOS in your backpack and fish on its target map within 60 tiles of its location. The current expansion branch requires at least 65.0 base Fishing to use an SOS for shipwreck recovery.
The nearby SOS can bypass an exhausted fishing resource bank. Recovery attempts commonly produce salvage before the chest; the source rolls a chest path on one attempt in four after reaching the SOS recovery branch.
The chest#
Shipwreck chests are movable, unlocked and stripped of their trap. Their ordinary treasure fill uses a level clamped to 1–4. Ancient SOS rewards include the fabled fishing net; other SOS chests include a special fishing net.
The shard also calls its adventure-loot bonus system for these chests. A fishing catch is not a promise of a specific refinement recipe; consult the fishing and treasure recipe guide for those bonuses.
