Boats and dry docking
From UO:PvE Wiki
Manage anchors, navigation and a clear deck before packing up a boat.
Development source reviewed on 29 October 2026. In-game availability is unverified.
On board#
Boat controls handle forward/backward movement, turns, stopping and anchor changes through the tiller’s speech commands. A lowered anchor prevents sailing. The owner controls the boat’s name.
Dropping a map on the tillerman while aboard supports the navigation system. Ownership, keys and boarding are separate from selecting a route. Boat placement is enabled, but usable water and available launch sites depend on the current map.
Dry dock checklist#
- Be alive and stand off the boat; double-click its tillerman to begin dry docking.
- Carry a matching boat key in your backpack.
- Lower the anchor.
- Empty the hold and clear items from the deck.
- Move all characters and creatures off the boat.
- Review and accept the docking confirmation; the conditions are checked again.
World availability#
The source supports boats, but it does not establish a live boat seller or an available berth at a specific town. Inspect the in-game boat and local water before committing supplies.
