Gathering and smelting

From UO:PvE Wiki

How expanded resource veins, skill gates and the forge work together.

Find a vein, then harvest#

Mining and Lumberjacking both extend their standard vein tables with the ten new materials. Each complete table retains a total weight of 1,000; expanded entries take weight from the regular resource entry.

Each expanded vein has a 50% ordinary-resource fallback. Harvesting skill, the selected resource and the normal harvesting checks still matter. Do not treat a material’s vein weight as a guaranteed yield rate.

Work the ore at a forge#

Target a forge with the ore while the ore is within two tiles. Expanded metals require the listed Mining threshold before the smelting skill check is attempted. Passing the threshold allows an attempt; it does not guarantee success.

The smelting check spans 25 skill below to 25 skill above the material difficulty. Pile form and quantity affect how many ingots can be made. Very small piles may not contain enough metal for an ingot.
